Conway isn't the beach, and treating a Conway lawn like a beach lawn is a mistake.

Move fifteen miles inland and the whole picture shifts. The soil holds more than pure coastal sand, the tree canopy is older and heavier, and the Waccamaw River drives a humidity and flood history that shapes what grows. Lots tend to be larger and lawns more established, so we're usually maintaining and rescuing mature turf rather than nursing a new build — a different job with different problems.

Two services, often together

Peaceful Bi-Weekly Mowing is 17 visits a year with mowing at the correct height, trimming, edging and blow-off every visit — and on Conway's larger lots, cut frequency and height matter even more for keeping a big lawn even. Premium Fertilization & Weed Control is 9 treatments a year with weeds treated every visit and a stop every month in summer. Most Conway customers run both.

Shade, moss, and what actually fixes it

Under Conway's old oaks, centipede thins to dirt and moss moves into ground the grass has already given up. Moss doesn't kill turf — too little light, compacted damp soil, and mowing too short do, and moss just fills the gap. Killing it without fixing those three brings it right back. Raising the mowing height and improving soil helps; St. Augustine holds shade better than centipede where sod is the answer. And sometimes the honest call is that turf won't win under a century-old oak, and a mulch bed is the better outcome — we'll tell you that rather than sell treatments that won't hold.

Waccamaw humidity means watching for fungus

Inland shade plus river humidity keeps grass wet longer, and that favors fungal disease more than the breezier beach lots see. The first fix is always watering — deep, infrequent, and early in the day so blades dry before evening. Our Premium COMPLETE program layers disease, insect and soil treatments onto the same 9 visits where a shaded, humid lawn keeps struggling.

Timing for inland turf

Our 9-round schedule still runs on the coastal-South-Carolina calendar — early winter pre-emergent, a longer-residual pre-emergent in spring, summer sedge control (included, not an upcharge), and a fall pre-emergent in September–October that heads off winter weeds. The difference in Conway is emphasis: more attention to shade management, disease watch, and the heavier soil under older lawns.
