Our shop is right on Hwy 9 in Longs, so Longs is the town we reach fastest and know best. It's also one of the fastest-growing parts of the county, with new subdivisions going up on former farmland and pine. That means wide, open, sun-baked yards — great for a lawn if the soil underneath cooperates, and it usually doesn't at first.

New-construction lawns: the year-two problem
